The Military 2 upgrades the original LinerLock to Spyderco's innovative Compression Lock mechanism. This lock, positioned on the spine, offers greater strength and significantly reduces the risk of accidental release during hard use. It also allows the blade to be safely closed with one hand, keeping fingers out of the blade's path. Enhanced by a precision-machined bushing, the lock mechanism ensures a smooth, consistent action every time.
 
The updated model retains peel-ply-textured G10 scales, with stainless steel liners nested for a slim profile. However, the larger skeletonized liners provide increased strength, improved weight reduction, and better balance while still maintaining the knife's pocket-friendly nature. Open-backed construction allows for easy cleaning, and the addition of a four-position pocket clip offers multiple carry options, unlike the single-position clip of the original model.
